About the archive and its corrections

This visualization is built from Matches_D1_15JUL2025.xlsx: 39,395 result rows across 94 tournament years, ending in 2025. The calendar gaps are 1943–1945 and 2020. The site contains no 2026 results.

The atlas contains 899 championship awards: 884 source finals plus 15 awards from archived placement lists for 1936 and 1948. Those tournaments used historical round formats without rows labeled as finals.

Two documented corrections use the archived 1928 brackets: Arthur Holding won the 135-pound final, and the 158-pound final fall time was 9:05. The original rows remain preserved in the database.

Selected records were checked against archived brackets; this is not an exhaustive audit. Program names are normalized conservatively. Historical second-place bouts are separate from finals. A champion’s path shows recorded championship-side bouts, or numbered rounds for 1936/1948, and omits byes.

Seed numbers appear only where the archive records a positive value. “TA” is historical time advantage, not elapsed match time. “Unlimited” corresponds to the source’s heavyweight code 450. Modern and historical scoring rules differ.
